How to Create Your First QR Code

A step-by-step walkthrough of the Scanly 3-step creation wizard from type selection to custom design and export.

Step 1: Select a Type of QR Code

Navigate to `/dashboard/create` or click the **Create QR Code** button in your dashboard. You will see the top progress bar displaying **Type of QR code** as the active stage. Browse the three category tabs to select the exact format for your campaign: * **Lead Generation & Growth (⚡):** Choose *Lead Form*, *Real Estate Lead*, *Visitor Sign-in*, or *Business* to capture contact information. * **Social & Engagement:** Choose *List of Links*, *Instagram*, *Facebook*, *WhatsApp*, or *Social Media* to grow your audience. * **Standard & Utility:** Choose *Website*, *vCard*, *Video*, *Images*, *WiFi*, *MP3*, *Menu*, *PDF*, or *Apps* for direct content delivery. Clicking any type automatically transitions you directly into Step 2.

Interactive Live Preview

On desktop screens, hovering over any card in Step 1 displays a live mockup preview on the virtual phone shell on the right, showing exactly what your visitors will experience.

Step 2: Add Content to Your QR Code

In Step 2 (**Content**), you provide the primary destination data for your code. The form dynamically adapts to match your chosen type: * **URL / Website:** Enter your target website link (e.g., `https://yoursite.com/promo`). * **vCard / Digital Card:** Add your name, company, email, direct phone numbers, social handles, and avatar. * **Lead Form:** Customize form fields (name, phone, email, notes) and configure automated WhatsApp dispatch notifications. ### Optional Advanced Controls: * **Custom Link (Optional):** Enter a clean human-readable slug (e.g., `summer-sale`). The live validator checks availability instantly. * **Custom Domain:** Pro users can select their verified custom domain (e.g., `go.brand.com`) from the dropdown. * **Folder Organization:** Assign your QR code to an existing folder or create a new one on the fly. When ready, click **Next: QR Design >** to proceed, or click **Save Draft** if you want to pause and resume later.

Step 3: Design the QR & Export

In Step 3 (**QR design**), the **QRDesignPanel** gives you full visual styling control: * **Colors & Gradients:** Apply brand colors with solid fills or smooth linear gradients. * **Corner Shapes & Dots:** Choose circular, rounded, or sharp geometric pixel dots. * **Logo Integration:** Upload your company logo or select a popular brand icon to position at the center of the QR. * **Call-to-Action Frames:** Add a prominent frame with text like *"SCAN ME"* or *"VIEW MENU"* to maximize scan conversion rates. ### Finalizing Your QR Code: * Click **Download QR Code** to export your asset in PNG, SVG (vector for print shops), or PDF. * For lead forms, click **Embed on Website** to copy a drop-in HTML snippet for your site. * Click **Save & View** to complete the wizard and open your newly created campaign in the dashboard.

Always Test Before Printing

Always do a test scan using your smartphone camera on your computer screen before sending assets to the commercial printer.
